Construction Equipment Guide

The Terex RS950B reclaimer/stabilizer features a 950 hp (708.4 kW) C27 diesel engine with enhanced cooling system.

The reclaimer/stabilizer’s center-mount cutter design distributes the full machine weight over the housing to maximize production. Its V-Belt power-band cutter drive offers up to 25 percent more efficient operation than hydrostatic systems, according to the manufacturer.

Operators can choose between four different cutter speeds — 102, 131, 163 and 200 rpm — to match the torque required for the application.

The RS950’s cutter housing features both front and rear doors, allowing bi-directional cutting in either an “up-cut” or “down-cut” position to improve efficiency. Its standard 8-ft. (2.4 m) cutter features 218 tungsten carbide teeth and delivers up to a 16-in. (40.6 cm) cutting depth. Available rotors provide the choice of equipping the machine with either a 10-ft. (3 m) cutter width or a 58-in. (1,47 cm) diameter mandrel for making 20-in. (51 cm) deep cuts.

A new trouble-shooting panel provides a host of time-saving service features found on the new Terex RS950B. The panel gives operators a quick glance of critical operating system pressures, including charge pressure for the closed-loop hydraulic system. Gauges provide operational readings for the upper and lower cooling fans, propel system, case pressure, auxiliary system and the optional additive system. These instruments help to reduce downtime by signaling hydraulic system issues if they arise. These factory-installed gauges also eliminate typical aftermarket installation concerns, such as connecting to the wrong port or difficulty getting the correct fitting to connect to the system.

The Terex RS950B features four-wheel drive and four-wheel steering for reliable operation, even in the most demanding applications. Its high/low-range working speeds deliver up to 210-ft./min. (64 m/min) operation. The machine also offers a transit speed of up to 5.8 mph (9.3 kmh).

A new, optional 20 CFM air compressor available for the RS950B allows service personnel to quickly and efficiently change cutter teeth without operating the main engine. The new stand-alone air compressor is powered by its own 10-hp (7 kW) diesel engine. The machine’s hydraulic tank is mounted toward the outside of the frame for quick access and ease of servicing. Batteries mounted at ground level inside the machine afford quick replacement.

The new RS950B features a high degree of parts commonality with the Terex RS600C, so customers with multiple machines need to stock fewer parts. A number of options are available — including a water/emulsion system, rear bolt-on tow attachment, automatic cross-slope system and heavy-duty front housing door — so customers can configure the machine to meet application needs.
