Construction Equipment Guide

Terramite has released its T5C backhoe. The T5C backhoe buckets are quick attach and easily changed. They range in size from 20 to 97 centimeters (8 to 38 in.) and have 1.3-centimeter (.5 in.) high carbon cutting edges with cast steel replacement teeth.

The backhoe and dipstick are made of large diameter tubing and plate for high strength and long life. It will dig to a depth of 2.5 meters (8 ft. 4 in.). All cylinders manufactured by Terramite are made to the company’s highest standards. Barrels are honed and all rods are high-carbon steel and chrome plated for durability. All seals are heavy-duty and have extremely low leakage rates.

The hydraulic valves on Terramite equipment will withstand 3,500 psi and flow rates of 95 liters per minute (25 gpm). The front valve has a wobblestick control and the rear valve features large handles and extra-light springs to minimize operator fatigue. Terramite tractors use a hydrastatic transmission rated for 26.1 kilowatts (35 hp). They have a cast ductile iron rotary group and all components subject to wear are easily replaced. Control is through an easy-to-use foot pedal.

The tractor is an integral design made of .6 to 2.5-centimeter (.25 to 1 in.) steel plate. All mounting plates brace the frame for added strength. In addition, there are only 58 grade 8 bolts in the entire machine. They are oversized and most have “Stover” locknuts to keep them tight. Terramite hydraulic motors are rated for 30 kilowatts (40 hp). A high pressure shaft seal eliminates the need for case drains, check valves and extra plumbing. These motors also contain roller bearings and seals.

Terramite rear axles are heavy-duty cast iron made by Dana Corporation. They feature positraction with an output torque rating of 14,678 N (3,300 ft/lbs) and all parts are easily serviced. Each Terramite machine is manufactured with ROPS and has been tested to meet OSHA requirements. This offers extra protection for the operator. The seat is high-backed and has an adjustable slide track and a two position swivel lock. This seat also has a heavy-duty vinyl cover with a nylon backing that is tear resistant. Each seat comes with retractable seat belts. Replacement seats do not have seat belts.
