’The Packman,’ TopCats Star at Charlotte Expo

Fri November 12, 2004 - Southeast Edition
Construction Equipment Guide

With only 21 days left until the "Greatest Show in Dirt" arrives in Charlotte, NC, Construction Equipment Guide is proud to announce two more special guests for the Charlotte Construction Expo on Dec. 1 and 2: Mark Packer, host of the WFNZ radio show, "Primetime with the Packman," the No. 1 rated sports talk show in Charlotte; and Panthers TopCats Jennifer and Lisa.

On day one of the show, the TopCats will be on hand at the Expo Center to cheer you on as you make your way down the aisles visiting the more than 100 exhibitors already signed up to showcase their wares. (Check out the exhibitor list under the "Charlotte Construction Expo Exhibitors" sidebar!)

Mark "The Packman" Packer will be on hand day one as well and is excited to be attending Charlotte's first Construction Expo.

Asked if he has any connection to the construction industry, Packer told Construction Equipment Guide, "No, not necessarily, other than the work we're doing on our house. But anytime we walk into a hardware store or anything that you can build or blowup, we're into it. So, that's what I'm looking forward to see in December when we get together."

Packer started his radio show in 1997 after a career in sports marketing and has resided in the Charlotte area since the late 1980s. "The Packman" is joined by different co-hosts everyday from 3-7 p.m. Co-hosts have included Pat Croce, Mike Krzyzewski and Ric Flair.

"The cool thing about this job is you get a chance to rub elbows with really neat people in the world of sports," said Packer. "Whether they be players, or coaches or owners or announcers .... The great thing about the world of sports is whether or not you love them or you hate them, you're normally watching them and we get a chance to get up and personal with the show on a daily basis."

"Primetime with Packman" is now syndicated in different markets in the Carolinas, he added. "It gives us the chance to talk to fans in different areas who follow different teams."

By the way, only a handful of exhibitor space remains, so if you're considering exhibiting, call Sheila Kirby, CEG's trade show manager, at 800/523-2200 for details.

As a reminder, the Cabarrus Arena & Events Center, in Concord, NC, is located within minutes of I-85. The center can accommodate more than 70,000 sq. ft. of exhibit space, housing approximately 100 exhibitors — both inside and outside the arena.
