The World Demolition Awards, part of the annual World Demolition Summit taking place in Stockholm, Sweden, on Nov. 6-7, celebrate the achievements and innovations within the demolition industry.

The "Contract of the Year Over $1 Million" category highlights high-profile projects that posed significant challenges and required exceptional ingenuity to complete.

Total Wrecking & Environmental, a leading Buffalo, N.Y.-based demolition and environmental remediation company, has been shortlisted for the prestigious awards in the "Contract of the Year Over $1 Million" category. The recognition comes for the company's ongoing work at the CD McIntosh Power Station in Lakeland, Fla., where Total Wrecking is executing a challenging and complex demolition of Units 1, 2, and 3.

The CD McIntosh Power Station project, commissioned by Lakeland Electric, required Total Wrecking to safely abate and demolish multiple units of the power station, including stacks, boilers, cooling towers, coal conveyors and more while maintaining operations at the active facility.

The team faced unique challenges, such as working in proximity to live overhead transmission lines and a sensitive ecosystem that includes wetlands, lakes and the Tenoroc Public Nature Preserve.

"This project showcases our dedication to executing large-scale demolition projects safely, efficiently, and with minimal environmental impact," said Frank Bodami, president of Total Wrecking & Environmental. "We are incredibly proud to be recognized on the international stage and remain focused on delivering outstanding results for our clients."

With a strong focus on sustainability, Total Wrecking processed and reused concrete from the demolition for backfill to ensure responsible material reuse. The company's expertise and proactive approach to overcoming complex demolition challenges have positioned them as a trusted partner in high-stakes projects.

As part of the nomination process, the World Demolition Awards judging panel, which consists of leading global experts with over 300 years of combined industry experience, will assess Total Wrecking's submission based on its demolition methodology, waste management practices and client testimonials.

Total Wrecking & Environmental's nomination not only highlights the company's technical abilities but also reflects its ongoing commitment to safety, innovation and environmental stewardship in the demolition industry.
