Ten major new projects with a total investment of $55 million received approval from the Ohio Department of Transportation's Transportation Review Advisory Council (TRAC). The projects in Tier I (ready for construction) include:

• $18 million for phases 3, 4, and 8 of the I-475/Dorr St. Interchange in Lucas County

• $6 million for construction of new bridge over the Maumee River on SR 110 in Henry County

• $8.7 million for the addition of a third lane on U.S. 35 from Whalen Blvd. to I-675 in Montgomery County

• $6 million for a deceleration lane on I-71 to SR 176 in Cuyahoga County

• $10 million for construction of a new interchange on I-71 south of the U.S. 36/SR 37 interchange in Delaware County

TRAC's draft funding list also includes Tier I construction recommendations for two new projects leveraging $250 million in Turnpike Bonds:

• $160 million for the reconstruction and widening of I-75 in Lucas County

• $90 million for the reconstruction of I-75 and widening of the bridge over the Maumee River

The vote launches a written public comment period. Comments, which will be accepted through Jan. 15. Once the written public comment period concludes, the TRAC will decide if additional public hearings and or project evaluations are needed before proceeding with a vote in early 2018 to accept a final TRAC list. This is not the first time stakeholders have had an opportunity to comment on a TRAC project. Last fall, the TRAC heard from project advocates at a public hearing held in Columbus.

TRAC received 13 applications for transportation projects requesting nearly $280M for development or construction funding. This vote takes TRAC one step closer to wrapping up a year-long process of receiving and reviewing applications for major new transportation funding projects throughout the state.

The nine-member TRAC was established by the Ohio Revised Code in 1997 and provides guidance for developing a project selection process for ODOT's largest investments of more than $12 million. Since its creation, TRAC has approved investing $10.9 billion into Ohio's roads and bridges.
