The Underground Contractors Association (UCA) of Illinois held their Annual Dinner Meeting at the Bolingbrook Golf Club in Bolingbrook, Ill. UCA holds this meeting annually to review old and new business of the association.

This year, Steve Benck of West Side Tractor Sales was nominated and elected to serve as an associate director on the UCA Board of Directors in the vacancy of Jimmy Slavens of Roland Machinery Co., who is finishing the two-year term. UCA members thanked Slavens for dedicating his time and efforts to improving the underground industry.

More than 150 members mingled with and received autographs from the NHL Hall of Famer and former Chicago Blackhawks player and coach Denis Savard. The Illinois Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno and Bolingbrook Mayor Roger Claar were both in attendance and addressed UCA before dinner. After dinner, Denis Savard regaled the members in attendance with true stories from his personal life. His motivational advice to the members was that we all go through tough times in our lives and if we keep working hard and stay positive, everything will be okay.

Members who made this evening possible include Brian Klimes of FOCIS Promotions and Incentives, chair of UCA’s Events Committee; Becky Talarico of Utility Concrete Products; and Denis Savard.
