You don't often see women in the construction business, and one Cape Cod, Mass., woman is turning heads. Jenn Morris is the owner of GFM Enterprises Inc., a Certified Woman-Owned Business specializing in Septic Installation and Upgrades, Site Development, New Home Excavation, Demolition, Sewer Hook ups, Road Grading, and Foundations, both Residential and Commercial, just to name a few.

She and her husband, Greg, were both raised on Cape Cod. They grew up around construction, both having families involved in the industry. Their shared background and love for the area led them to stop working for others. Through their hard work and perseverance, GFM Enterprises, Inc. was born.

Although she went to school for business, Jenn holds many of the licenses that she requires of her employees, and feels that this is one of the many keys to her success. “I  believed  that in  order  for me to be a good business owner and leader, it was best for me to be educated in the tasks I am requesting my crew to perform.”

Repeat customers and referrals have helped the business grow in leaps and bounds. “We started with 1 truck, 1 machine, and 1 employee, who still works for us today. We now have 15 full time employees and MANY trucks and machines! We have also increased our scope of services as we add qualified employees capable of performing a variety of tasks. We work from Provincetown to Marshfield, with hopes to expand further into Southeastern Massachusetts as opportunities become available. We cannot emphasize enough that repeat customers and referrals are a huge part of our business. We are fortunate to have great working relationships with such companies as Cape Associates and Delphi Construction, as well as many other local family owned businesses. None of this would be possible without our fantastic employees, who we refer to as the GFM Family.”

Being a female owned excavating business puts Morris in a unique position. “You do not see many women owned excavation based businesses, and for the most part, very few in the construction industry,” said Morris, “A determined woman can do anything she wants and has the drive to accomplish. This industry isn't just for men….that's really just a stereo type.”

The response from customers has been overwhelmingly positive. “They love the personal touch our company has provided. Many of my repeat clients tell me that when I step on a job site or am involved in a project, they know stuff is going to get done in a timely manner.” Jenn is quick to praise her husband's dedicated service as well. “Men can be detail oriented too!”

It's not just clients that are impressed with GFM Enterprises. They were named Cape Associates Vendor of the Year in 2015. In addition, GFM Enterprises is heavily involved in giving back to the community. They don't seek out recognition; much of the work they do is anonymous.

When Jenn and Greg aren't hard at work at GFM Enterprises, they spend time creating memories with their 3 children, enjoying all of the great things the Cape and Islands have to offer.

If you are in need of an excavator, know you'll be in good hands with GFM Enterprises Inc.. From septic and sewer hook ups to demolition and site development, you can bet Jenn and Greg have the experience and knowledge to get the job done.
