ST. PAUL (AP) Rebuilding the traffic tangle where Interstate 35W and Crosstown Highway 62 intersect near the border of Minneapolis and Richfield is scheduled to begin in June, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) said.

MnDOT received two bids from road building teams on March 30.

The apparent low bid was more than $288 million from a team made up of Ames Construction Inc., of Burnsville, Minn.; Lunda Construction Co., of Black River Falls, Wis., and Shafer Contracting Co., of Shafer, Minn.

CS McCrossan, of Maple Grove, and PCL, a national construction company, submitted the second bid, for just more than $316 million.

When the state opened the job for bidding last year, no bids were submitted because the plan called for contractors to front the money to the state. This year, the state delayed another project in Brooklyn Park to secure conventional financing.
