The Better Business Bureau (BBB) serving Metro Atlanta, Athens and Northeast Georgia has selected Yancey Bros. Co., Georgia’s Caterpillar dealer, as one of four recipients of the “2005 Better Business Bureau Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics.”
The BBB Torch Award for Marketplace Ethics recognizes a company’s performance and commitment to conducting business and interpersonal relationships in an ethical manner. The judges selected Yancey based on the company’s demonstrated ethical practices toward customers, suppliers, stockholders, employees and the communities in which they do business. The BBB Torch Award is helping to illuminate the importance of corporate conscience and responsibility to upholding a fair and honest marketplace.
The award is open to for-profit businesses that provide goods or services to retail and wholesale markets. Nominees must be in good standing with the BBB; however, membership in the BBB is not a requirement.
Established nationally in 1996, the award is designed to promote the importance of ethical business practices, and the willingness and efforts made by businesses to ensure that their community’s marketplace remains fair and honorable for everyone.
The Metro Atlanta Better Business Bureau established the local Torch Award program in 2005, making Yancey Bros. Co. a member of the first class of recipients.
“I am extremely proud of the employees of Yancey who have worked hard for over 90 years to create and maintain a climate of ethical, fair and honest business practices within the industries we serve,” said James E. Stephenson, president of Yancey Bros. Co. “Being recognized by the Better Business Bureau and receiving their inaugural Torch Award further validates our company’s vision, mission and values, and lets us know we are conducting business with integrity and pride. I share this award with all of our employees, customers, and suppliers.”
Founded in downtown Atlanta in 1914, the company is owned and operated today by a fourth generation of the Yancey family.
