The Cat Rental Store, a division of Yancey Bros. Co., has recently opened three new facilities in the northern half of Georgia. These facilities, located in Kennesaw, Cumming, and Columbus, have been opened in high growth areas and are just another way for Yancey to quickly serve its customers’ rental needs.
The new Kennesaw location is the second largest Cat Rental Store facility built by Yancey to date, and is located at 2689 Barrett Lakes Blvd. in the Town Center area of Kennesaw. The facility backs up to the Kennesaw Vulcan quarry and is centrally located to I-75, I-575, and Hwy. 41. This location was built to service the northwestern quadrant of Metro Atlanta as well as providing rental support for downtown Atlanta. The 8,000 square foot stand-alone building is situated on a 2.5 acre parcel of land and includes 6 bays for service work. The location includes a separate stand-alone machine wash facility which includes an environmentally friendly water treatment plant that recycles all water used for machine washing.
The Kennesaw branch was designed and built for the sole purpose of machine rental, and has an assembly line approach. There is a designated equipment drop off area, which begins the process. After drop off, machines run through the fueling area, then to the wash bay and then directly into the service bays for inspection and any service work required. When the process is completed, the machines are taken to the “front line” which is the property frontage at Barrett Lakes Blvd. and are considered rental ready at this point. The building includes a conference room, sales offices, and a showroom for the new Cat skid steer loaders and other products for rent from The Cat Rental Store. The manager of the Kennesaw store is Don Smith and he can be reached locally at 678/290-1248.
According to The Cat Rental Store’s General Manager, John Faress, “this location, as well as all of our rental locations, work on a shared inventory basis. Machines are transported between our stores (Atlanta/Six Flags, Buford, Columbus, Cumming and Kennesaw) based on customer demands and needs, and our store inventories can be adjusted at any time as needed.”
“Whatever the customer wants, we can get,” said Faress.
Each of The Cat Rental Stores has at least one low boy and one roll-back for equipment delivery, and service trucks for equipment repair and service. If needed, each location has access to other equipment haulers to ensure equipment is delivered as promptly as possible.
All of Yancey’s Cat Rental Stores have on-sight technicians for light to medium machine repairs. The stores depend on the capabilities of Yancey Bros. Co.’s earthmoving facilities for any major repairs. The rental locations are based on a total solution concept: rental and sales of all equipment, as well as service. The total rental fleet for the Cat Rental Stores is now more than 300 pieces of Caterpillar equipment, along with more than 600 Allied products.
The new Cumming Cat Rental Store is located at 1120 Pilgrim Road and Hwy. 9, one half mile off GA 400. The 5,000 square foot facility occupied by The Cat Rental Store was originally built as an equipment rental facility. One upgrade that was added to this location was that of a machine wash facility which includes an environmentally friendly water treatment plant that recycles all water used for machine washing.
The Cumming Cat Rental Store was opened because of the incredible growth and requirement for rental equipment in Metro Atlanta’s “GA 400 Corridor” and the Lake Lanier area. Yancey realized it was becoming difficult to service all its customers’ needs in the northern areas of Metro Atlanta from its new Kennesaw location and from the existing Buford location.
The Cumming Cat Rental Store can be reached locally at 770/205-1201.
Faress added that, “our stores are being built in areas where major growth is taking place. Currently, less than 10 percent of rental customers come into our locations to pick up their equipment. Therefore we have to be near their jobsites in order to deliver our equipment on a timely basis. We want to be our customers’ first and only thought when it comes to renting equipment, and our Cumming operation is an example of our commitment to their success.”
The new Columbus Cat Rental Store facility shares its building with Yancey Bros. Co.’s Columbus operation and is located at 7416 Veterans Parkway. This location is next to the Carl Gregory Auto Mall and is located 1 mile from GA 80 and one half mile from I-185, just north of the Columbus airport, in northern Muscogee County. The local telephone number for The Cat Rental Store in Columbus is 706/ 649-0054.
The 10,000 square foot facility in Columbus is already a full service branch for Yancey Bros. Co. and is now a full service Cat Rental Store. The reason for adding the rental store is so that Yancey can offer builders and contractors a “one stop shop” - rental, sales, parts, and service - all at a single facility. The area is saturated with industrial prospects that have a need for such items as scissor lifts, welders, as well as other allied equipment.
The Columbus Cat Rental Store is only 15 minutes from Fort Benning, 20 minutes from Callaway Gardens, and near Harris County which has experienced a boom in residential building. “Columbus is a growth area that has many ongoing construction projects, including the continued revitalization of the Riverfront, construction of the Columbus library, and construction of the nearby Georgia Power plant, as well as other projects in nearby LaGrange,” Faress said.
Faress states that plans are in the works to build a new Cat Rental Store adjacent to the Yancey Gwinnett facility in the Gwinnett Progress Center. “The new Rental Store will be easily accessible off Hwy. 316 one mile east of the Gwinnett Airport. A four-acre parcel of land will be utilized to construct the new store which will use the same design as the Kennesaw free standing location. With the Yancey Bros. Co. location next door, this location will be another ’one stop shop’ for rental, sales, parts, and service to cover the northeast quadrant of Metro Atlanta, with easy access to Athens, Commerce, and Gainesville. Plans are to break ground in a couple weeks and to be fully operational by Summer of 2000. This store will replace the Buford store which is 10 miles away.”
“As a local company, we’re committed to our customers’ success, and we can react more quickly than other rental outfits to get a location built to accommodate their needs. When the Mall of Georgia project was announced, we went to work and had a fully operational branch up and running - where our customers needed us - in less than 3 months. The decision to act quickly to our customers’ needs comes from top management. Our success is linked to our customers. If they’re not successful, we’re not successful,” said Faress.
