Young Constructors Forum (YCF) hosted a Build-a-Brat picnic for members of AGC of St. Louis July 24. More than 300 members participated in the event, which was located at the Gloria Rogers Pavilion in Tilles Park in St. Louis.
The picnic featured live music by the Time Pieces while attendees enjoyed bratwurst, sides, beer and soda.
Additionally, a silent auction took place for St. Louis Cardinals tickets, sports memorabilia, gift certificates to St. Louis restaurants, and more.
Build-a-Brat’s proceeds went to the Sean Glanvill Traumatic Brain Injury Research Fund.
On May 16, 2007, during his daily commute to school, 12 year old Sean Glanvill was involved in a car accident.
The truck he was in lost control and struck a tree hitting the side where Sean was seated (buckled in) — causing severe trauma to his head. At Children’s Hospital in St. Louis, Sean underwent immediate surgery to remove fractured bone from his skull. Most of the top and right side of his skull were removed to allow for brain swelling. In addition to massive head trauma, he had fractures behind the sinus and major damage to his right eye. Sean was given only a one percent chance of survival on the day of his accident, but he is battling through to potential recovery despite his traumatic injury.
His accident has brought to light the fact that little is know about the brain, and funding is needed to further this critical research to help future victims of traumatic brain injury.
