Driller’s Choice Inc. has moved to a new location at 1849 Candy Lane, Suite B, Marrieta, GA.

Allen Cellar, president, took on the Svedala Drilling line in December. The company is an authorized distributor in the states of Georgia and Alabama.

Cellar has built Driller’s Choice into a company that focuses on one industry: drilling. The products and product lines the company represents are for drilling equipment and accessories only. The four major markets that Driller’s Choice caters to are quarry/mining, construction, water well and directional drilling.

The philosophy of the company’s owner is to stick with one industry and be a niche player. “Our niche is to serve a market that has been long overlooked for quality service,” Cellar said.

The new location is a full-service facility offering sales, service, parts and rentals. Driller’s Choice sells parts and can service Svedala predeccesors, Reedrill and Gardner-Denver machines.

“We can provide almost immediate service. We have two fully trained full-time service personnel and have access to back-up support from Svedala, as well as a sales force that is extremely knowledgeable of the drilling industry. Others in this business may tell you what they’re going to do, we simply do it,” Cellar said.

Cellar has been involved in sales and sales management of construction equipment for more than 20 years. In 1980, he moved from equipment maintenance management to heavy equipment sales, when he was employed by Shapiro Equipment, Newington, CT.

Five years later, he joined Atlas Copco as a territory manager for the Northeast United States, selling construction and mining equipment. Over the next 15 years, he was product manager for surface drilling equipment and managed a sales force of 10 territory managers and worked to develop new products for the quarry and construction drilling industries.

In 1998, Cellar started Driller’s Choice, starting with one product line of drilling accessories from Sweden. Since then, he has grown the company to sales just under $1 million for the year 2000. “We expect to double sales this year as we now represent Svedala Drilling and its full line of drilling products,” he said.

In addition to products from Svedala Drilling, including crawler and truck-mounted blasthole and top hammer drills, foundation drills and accessories, the company also carries Sullivan Industries products: pneumatic and hydraulic track drills, air compressors and tools; Driconeq: drill pipes, stabilizers, collars and adaptors for Down-the-Hole, exploratory and rotary drilling; NUMA Tool: Down-the-Hole hammers and bits; and Altas Copco-Berema: hydraulic hammers, air tools, air hoses and accessories.
