Eastern Michigan Kenworth recently opened its second full-service facility, located on Detroit’s north side. The approximately 13,000 sq.-ft. facility complements the recently improved 36,000 sq.-ft. Dearborn site that serves the south side of the Detroit-area market.

A member of Kenworth’s dealer network of approximately 300 locations in the United States and Canada, Eastern Michigan Kenworth’s new Clinton Township location offers customers a more accessible facility. It is situated approximately 1 mi. south by southwest of I-94 and Michigan Highway 59 interchange in the greater Detroit area.

Eastern Michigan Kenworth-Clinton Township includes 10 service bays, a 4,500 sq.-ft. parts area, and a customer lounge with large flat screen television and shower facility where drivers can unwind while their trucks are serviced.

“Before we remodeled the Clinton Township location, it served for a number of years as a truck repair facility and company office for Berger & Sons Truck, Trailer and RV, our long-time family business,” said Jesse Berger, Eastern Michigan Kenworth owner and president.

“This remodel has been part of a continuing effort to offer customers in the greater Detroit area more convenient, comfortable and attractive locations with top-notch, state-of-the-art services. This new location offers our customers in the suburbs a reprieve from driving through heavy inner city traffic on I-94 to get to us.”

Kenworth received three 2006 J.D. Power and Associates awards for “Highest in Customer Satisfaction for Over the Road Segment and Pickup and Delivery Segment Class 8 Trucks, and for Heavy Duty Dealer Service.”

“We’ve made a significant investment in training for our technicians,” Berger added. “We’ve also equipped the store with a new computer system, which includes wireless Internet access for all employees.”

With the new system, technicians will have immediate access to service bulletins and other information, Berger said.

“We can also keep closer track of our parts inventory and the maintenance schedules of our customers to ensure that we have the parts they need when they bring in their trucks for servicing,” he said.

“This new facility will offer longtime customers of our family’s truck repair business the opportunity to get a close look at the great trucks that Kenworth offers. We think Kenworth’s medium duty lineup will be particularly appealing to customers in the local contracting, pick-up and delivery, and wholesale trades.

“We anticipate considerable interest in the Kenworth T300 and the new Kenworth K260 and Kenworth K360 cabover models because they’re designed to do the job and because Kenworth has a reputation for quality, reliability and durability. We’ll also be able to sell and service more of the well-built Kenworth T800s, which is a popular staple in many commercial contracting, aggregate hauling and steel hauling fleet operations.”

Eastern Michigan Kenworth-Clinton Township, 43320 N. Gratiot Ave., is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.
