J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers, a manufacturer of dump bodies and trailers, has announced the completion of a new tipper trailer for a customer in Trinidad.

The high-polished aluminum trailer has a capacity of 104 cu. yds. (79.5 cu m), is 40 ft. (12.2 m) long, 8 ft. (2.4 m) wide, 13 ft. 10 in. (4.2 m) high, and features a possum belly-style bottom. In addition to top loading the trailer, the operator also can place palletized materials through the large double doors located on each side of the trailer.

It was designed and custom built to haul the maximum payload allowed in Trinidad and is the first of three that will be shipped there.

The delivery driver’s routes were carefully selected to allow the trailer to safely pass under bridges and alternate routes were found to avoid tunnels on the way. Because of the trailer’s height, special permits were required to get the trailer to Baltimore, MD, where it was placed on a ship.

J&J Truck Bodies & Trailers, an ISO 9001 certified company, is a division of Somerset Welding & Steel, a subsidiary of Riggs Industries. The company specializes in building aluminum and steel dump bodies for light, medium, and heavy-duty chassis used in construction and other applications. It also builds aluminum and steel dump trailers for rock hauling, demolition, and excavation work and transfer trailers such as live floors, tippers, and push outs.
