The Utility & Transportation Contractors Association of New Jersey (UTCA) held its annual convention Sept. 26 to 28, 2024, at the Borgata in Atlantic City, N.J.

During the convention's trade show exhibit on Sept. 27, contractor members and guests checked out more than 100 exhibitors touting their latest equipment offerings and services.

This year's keynote address featured Anthony Robles, a three-time All-American champion wrestler despite being born with only one leg. Robles is the inspiring subject of the forthcoming motion picture, Unstoppable, which is being produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's production company.

During the keynote luncheon on Sept. 27, UTCA inducted Gerard Burdi, president of Union Paving and long-time UTCA of NJ board of directors member, as its 2024-2025 president — his second consecutive term. Also, Louis Pillari of Pillari Brothers Construction was named the Robert A. Briant Sr. Memorial Award winner; William McNamara of Woolston, Jensen & McNamara was named the 2024 Larry Gardner Memorial Award winner; and Frank Criscola Sr. of Crisdel Construction was inducted into the 2024 New Jersey Construction Industry Hall of Fame.
