Caterpillar to Trim 200 Jobs in Spalding, Other Georgia Operations Escape Cost-cutting Moves
Caterpillar will lay off about 300 workers, including 200 at its Spalding County plant, because of continued weak demand for its large power services systems.
The company said the layoffs won’t affect other Georgia operations in Atlanta, Jefferson, LaGrange, Thomasville and Toccoa....

Army Corps Ready for Water Projects
The Army Corps of Engineers has completed reviews and will proceed with 163 of 171 water projects halted last month because of questions about how the agency determined the need for them.
The remaining eight projects will undergo further review, the Corps said in documents distributed to members of Congress.
