Kobelco Construction Machinery USA’s Silver Lot Booth 4408, will feature an interactive video game experience that will allow contractors and show attendees to test their athletic skills by throwing steel footballs into various sized construction pipes to earn points. The movements of each player will be tracked by a Kinect camera for :30 seconds of play. The smaller the pipe and the further the distance of the pipe from center field which the ball is successfully thrown into, the greater the number of points earned. Two players participate at a time. Each day, a leaderboard will display the names of the top scorers, with the top three winners earning Kobelco and Kobelco “Beast” branded prizes.

The game, which has been in development since mid-2013, is designed to showcase the Kobelco Beast and is appropriately called “The Beast Bowl”. “ConExpo is a very large show and since it only comes around once every three years, we really wanted to do some fun and interesting things within the Kobelco exhibit to make it memorable,” states Jordan Lumpkins, Marketing Manager for KOBELCO Construction Machinery USA. “Live feeds of game play will be featured on the main jumbotron in our booth at various points throughout the day as the competition gets lively.”

Hi-tech games are not the only way to go in the Kobelco booth. Tying into the booth’s stadium theme, there will also be games like bean bag toss and a nostalgic electric football competition setup, all offered to spur friendly competition.

The Beast Bowl won’t end with ConExpo. A variation of the game in is currently in development for use on mobile devices and will be available for download in the near future. The combination of Kobelco’s full line of crawler excavators, new line of demolition equipment, HINO engine and truck display and the variety of games, audio visual and live entertainment will be sure to draw crowds throughout the show.
