CM Labs Simulations, developer of Vortex training simulators, announced the availability of the new Vortex Trainer, the latest addition to its construction equipment simulator product line.

Optimally designed for a classroom environment, the Vortex Trainer mounts conveniently on a desktop and makes it easier than ever for training organizations to deploy CM Labs' full range of construction equipment training modules and maximize operator seat time.

The Vortex Trainer is so compact that it can be easily transported and installed in minutes. All components, from the configurable pedals to the operator touchscreen and high-definition display, can be ergonomically placed for optimal trainee comfort.

The Vortex Trainer is a perfect complement to the more immersive Vortex Advantage. It allows learning organizations to start novices on the entry-level Vortex Trainer and then complement with seat time on the Vortex Advantage. The result is more seat time and better prepared operators.

The latest addition to the CM Labs training suite, the Vortex Trainer features the same exceptional quality as its more immersive simulators. “Effective training is such a key component of work site safety — we feel that providing professional-grade simulation- based training is the only responsible option,” said Drew Carruthers, CM Labs' product manager.

The Vortex Trainer uses industrial-grade joysticks and steering wheels developed by manufacturers for cranes and heavy earthmoving equipment, and provides the same field-proven learning content delivered by CM Labs on all its training solutions.

Designed to complement training on the actual equipment, Vortex simulators provide a safe environment for novices to learn, while also allowing instructors to engage more students and provide more seat time. All CM Labs' construction crane and heavy equipment operator training modules — including tower crane and mobile crane, to backhoe, wheel loader, excavator operations, and more — provide progressive learning exercises that range from beginner through to intermediate and advanced operations.

“With the Vortex Simulator,” said Tom Gordon, IUOE Local 14's co-director of Journey Person and Apprenticeship Training, “we've noticed that when trainees get in the real equipment, they know what to expect — they know how to catch a load, and they know what's going to happen.”
