Kohler Power Systems’ new line of mobile generators offers customers more choice in terms of power output and customization, allowing Kohler distributors to tailor a solution to suit customer requirements and price point. Kohler’s new mobile generator line also includes a propane-powered mobile generator with on-board fuel storage capacity.

Kohler’s entire range of the new line will include 11 diesel gensets ranging from 35 to 680 kVA and four liquid-propane gensets ranging from 30 to 125 kVA. Engineered to provide reliable power in any situation, Kohler’s mobile diesel generators are Tier IV Final-compliant featuring the Kohler KDI engine (35 to 70 kVA models). The propane-fueled gensets will reduce users’ fuel costs by 15 to 20 percent, according to the manufacturer.

“Kohler Power System products are engineered to exceed standard expectations, and our new line of mobile generators offers users a tough, reliable power source in any circumstance,” said Steve Zielke, Kohler Power Systems marketing manager. “Making sure each customer has the right equipment is important, and we pride ourselves on our ability to understand customer needs and guide them through their power support specification process. Our new line of mobile generators offers users a choice of fuel, a wide range of engine sizes, and custom receptacle connectors, fuel tanks and paint or decal packages. With Kohler’s new line of mobile generators, customers get a trusted power source they know will work for a long time in all environments.”

Kohler will execute a staggered release of 15 nodes from February through June 2015. The four propane-fueled models are eligible for incentives of $1,000 to $8,500 from the Propane Education & Research Council (PERC), making a move to efficient, environmentally friendly propane very attractive.

“Propane continues to be more widely recognized as an efficient, low-carbon, alternative fuel for residential and commercial applications, commercial mowing, and fueling engines,” said Tucker Perkins, PERC’s chief business development officer. “Now, with Kohler’s new product line, construction professionals will have the option to rent or purchase durable, propane-fueled portable generators that offer reliable performance while producing fewer emissions. And, due to the valuable incentives available from PERC, it’s more affordable for contractors to integrate this type of greener, more sustainable equipment into their daily operations.”

Kohler’s 45REOZT4 (45 kVA) diesel-powered genset, which is Tier IV Final-compliant and ideally sized for rental companies, features the KOHLER KDI (Kohler direct injection) 2.4L diesel engine that does not require a diesel particulate filter, which means it produces EPA-compliant power in a smaller space. It can be mounted to a standard wheeled trailer with an electric braking system or fitted on a dragable field skid when mobility is not a concern. Upon release, all diesel models will have tanks built for 24-hour run times, a two-way valve to easily transition to external fuel tanks, and a voltage selector switch option (three-voltage-position switch for models up to 485 kVA, two positions for the 680 kVA model). All mobile generators also include the Kohler Decision-Maker 3500 digital controller, which enables easy paralleling of two generators.

The Kohler 125REZGT is a propane-fueled mobile generator with an on-board LP tank. Users working in areas without an LP gas supply can opt for the on-board tank and then switch to an onsite supply when working in areas with an LP gas connection. The on-board LP tank is built for a 24-hour run time while connection to an external LP or natural gas supply offers extended usage. In addition to being cheaper than diesel, LP gas burns cleaner so these Kohler mobile generators produce fewer toxins and less smog-producing carbon monoxide, and will flash to vapor at atmospheric pressure, which reduces the risk of accidents from fuel spills. These mobile gensets also can be customized with optional add-ons like cam-locks and a voltage selector switch.

For the new Kohler mobile generators, servicing is easier due to the enclosure, which offers straightforward access to all parts without disconnecting any wires or parts. In addition, Kohler mobile generators include a fluid containment system to collect any leaking engine fluids to ease use and repair. All Kohler generators come with a standard three-year warranty managed through a service network of more than 10,000 dealers across the United States dedicated to meeting the needs of commercial and residential customers.
